Welcome to Lung Cancer UK.
Lung Cancer UK is an organisation created to improve awareness, fund research and to inform about the proposed Targeted Screening Programme to be rolled out across the UK for the 55 to 74-year age group.
The programme would be integrated with Smoking Cessation Services recommended by the National Screening Committee UKNSC. The Screening aims to detect lung cancer at an early stage when treatment is most effective.
After smoking, the other main causes of lung cancer are environmental factors and genetics (approximately 10%).
Vaping is also a major concern to us as it’s aimed at the younger generation. We class this as a priority for us now and in our future aims and objectives.
Lung cancer is a major health concern in the UK, being the third most common cancer and a leading cause of cancer-related deaths. Approximately 50,000 people are diagnosed annually, with smoking being the primary cause.
Despite advances in treatment, survival rates remain relatively low, highlighting the importance of early detection and prevention.
